About Us

Globel Foster Care (GFC) is a Child Placing Agency (CPA) dedicated to providing high quality care and service to children and families. GFC provides a strong family atmosphere that encourages the development of healthy, life changing relationships, and models Christian values in everyday life. GFC currently serves children in foster care with both Basic and Theraputic needs in the Houston and surrounding areas. There are two departments within Globel Foster Care: Foster Care and Adoption.

The Foster Care department is overseen by Monte Cuba where 24-hour residential care for children that are removed from their biological family by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).

The Adoption department is overseen by Janet McAfee which provides adoption services that are available for responsible adults who seek children in need of a permanent home and family. We help to put children with great famililes and assist in the transition.

 

How We are Funded

Globel Foster Care (GFC) receives funds from the Department of Family and Protective Services.  All activities of GFC related to referral, admission, placement if individuals, communication and the provision of services shall be conducted without regard to race, religion sex, age, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, national origin, marital status, identity or expression, or sexual orientation.

Services

Globel Foster Care takes a proactive approach and provides 24 hour support and consultation to all of our foster and adoptive parents and children.

Our case managers are caring, dedicated, and are specialized in crisis intervention.

Our child to case manager ratio is 20:1.

Globel Foster Care service planning team consists of the case manager, Children Protective Services (CPS) worker, psychiatrist, psychologist, licensed therapist, foster and adoptive parents.

We work closely with the schools, medical care providers, local psychiatric hospitals, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS).

Globel Foster Care provides in-home play, individual, and family therapy with licensed professionals.

Quarterly meetings for foster and adoptive parents and children to celebrate birthdays and recognize academic achievements are done to support our families.

Foster and adoptive parent groups provide support and continuing education trainings.

Globel Foster Care provides free initial and ongoing training to foster and adoptive parents and caregivers.

Assist foster and adoptive parents in arranging respite care services for children in emergencies and for vacations.

Other support services and referrals include assistance with clothing and food as well as tuition for summer camps.

Foster Parent Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, financially stable, and a responsible, mature, healthy adult.
  • Must be married or divorced, for at least one year (can also be single).
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to clear a criminal history/ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check and abuse/neglect central registry check on all adults in the household.
  • Home must pass a city fire and environmental health inspection.
  • Must clear random drug tests.
  • Must have favorable home study.

Around the Clock Support

A case manager is available 24 hours a day to provide guidance on everything from behavioral issues to paperwork. They will visit the home monthly, or as needed.
